Mission
We aim to promote the work of women, LGBTQIA+, ethnically diverse, neurodivergent, disabled, migrant/immigrant, working class/low income and any other writers whose voices have historically been excluded or marginalised by the literary world, and wider culture.
We publish high-quality, developed writing that gets to the heart of the issue.
We expect our writers to be self-aware, well-informed and willing to be vulnerable in their work.
We are committed to challenging prejudice and championing equality.
We want to publish writing that changes the world for the better.
Meet our editors
-
Jade Green (she/her)
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Jade is a queer, autistic writer based in Bristol. In her own writing she explores themes of trauma and healing, addiction, dreams and the subconscious. She loves supporting and connecting with other creative people, and founded oranges journal as a safe space for marginalised writers.
She likes reading work that is emotionally nuanced, and is especially impressed by strong endings that leave her thinking about the story for days.
-
Kasandra Ferguson (she/her)
NONFICTION EDITOR
Kasandra is a writer and editor based in Ireland. She has a master’s degree in publishing and has worked on a both short- and long-form work, including a variety of nonfiction titles centred on inclusivity and sustainability. Her essays, poems, and fiction have been published widely.
She enjoys work that prioritises prose as much as content, and she’s always excited for a braided essay that teaches her something new about a subject as well as the writer.
-
Jordan Reddington (she/her)
FICTION EDITOR
Jordan is completing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Essex in Colchester. Her writing and research is concerned with the development of transgender fiction, women’s stories, and the importance of marginalised voices and narratives in art. Her work has appeared online with Fictive Dream.
Jordan is most excited to read transgender/queer stories, experimental fiction, and fiction that pushes limits in representing gender ambiguity through original use of language.
-
Yaminah Reid (she/her)
NONFICTION EDITOR
Yaminah is an ex-teacher, originally from Coventry but now living in London. After a decade in education, she’s now exploring other avenues. She’s an avid reader who also enjoys boxing, yoga, cooking and writing fiction and screenplays.
She is most excited to read works that teach her things or even make her change her mind. She can’t wait to hear different takes on the experiences and views we regularly take for granted.
-
Lukas Kofoed Reimann (he/him)
FICTION EDITOR
Lukas is a Danish/German writer, editor and care worker living in Berlin. Lukas is writing autofiction and speculative fiction, focusing on microfiction and fragmented narratives. He often writes about his experiences with gender transition and chronic pain as well as anxieties about climate change and nature/human relationships in general.
Lukas would be very excited to read something joyful, especially with a clear voice and surprising perspective.
